i can't decide what specific style(s) i delight in.
i see a piece of clothing i like and go from there. keeping in mind: lipstick.

So, a few washes after dying my hair and it's basically back to it's natural color.

it's sad to think i can't go back to the whitish/blonde i was for a LONG TIME.

my hair needs healing. and a good cut.

but it needs to be long and brown for hello dolly so i can't do anything with it for a month and a bit.

gonna go home and stay with mum, dad and nik for my reading break.

i have a ton of work to accomplish.

i had a good valentines day. or, as i call it "poop day" [mature, yes].
i tend to be very bitter on most feb.14's- perhaps cause i've always been single.
but this year i was okay.
got together in the evening with 5 friends and laughed and screamed and almost cried. it was a lot of fun.
although it's not my favorite celebrated day, i was shockingly "awing" and "so cute[ing]" at the stories friends told me that their valentine said or gave to them.
so. i guess, i'm slowly moving past the sitting-in-the-corner-looking-like-a-grump and seeing the 'love"liness of why some people celebrate this day.

i blew up a bit today. which is isn't really normal of me. especially when it includes dropping a few "b*itch" bombs. i guess it's been a while since i've gotten really frustrated at people (to their face).

but it was wrong of me and i feel bad for it.

name calling is stupid and really really unnecessary.

it doesn't matter the case.

people are the way they are for a reason and you may or may not like it but you might have to live with it.

people (especially including myself in this case) need to understand that name calling is a really hurtful way to express your feelings and... because i'm imperfect i let it slip and it was wrong.

be careful of what'cha say!

The sun visited today.

i think that's what motivated me to get some work done around my place even though i'm still a sicky. i did, however, feel better when i woke up this morning- thanks to a nice 10 hr sleep.

i had a weird dream, woke up and instantly forgot it. don't you hate that?! butttt i started thinking about something else and it came back to me, almost everything.

i typed what i could remember into this dream app i got for my phone to help translate what my dreams may be about... kinda fascinating.

i was a huge fan... i went to her concert in (in think gr.8) and dressed up as a harajuku girl and had signs; one that said "harajuku girls are supa kawaii" and another that probably said something like "we <3 gwen".
my friend jess and i were screaming at them and as they ran off backstage they waved at us and gave us a thumbs up. we basically peed ourselves.

Whenever i'm creating an outfit on polyvore i never know if i'm gonna create a summer or winter look. i kinda just go along with whatever the first thing is that i choose (shoes or shirt or skirt...).

i'd love to be a stylist.

however, it's not my passion. it's something i'd like to do for fun, so i don't take the idea too seriously.

i just really believe in unique, personal style.

i used to be so caught up in what's "in" and what's "not", and although i still keep some of those ideas in mind, i don't let it overrule something that interests me.

so now, i try to respect and accept what people wear, because their style is what (hopefully) expresses who they are as a person.

and it really is important to be comfortable in what you wear and to try to feel confident when taking risks or even when you're just having a good 'ol sloppy day.

i gotta say, i've never been much of a fan of louis v, BUT, their 2012 ready-to-wear collection is quite something. i'm shocked. i really like.

chic, elegant, doily-like prints & cutouts, w/ a daring edge [straight up undies/bodysuits underneath long coats]. wow.

i'd be impressed with myself if i were daring enough to do it.

if i lived in paris i would, i wouldn't get any crazy looks.

i got this silk, kimono[esque] cardigan[?] from wasteland- a vintage store i go to every time i visit LA[ish area]. [i'm really feeling the [ ]'s today].
when i went a few weeks ago my friends took me to the one in sherman oaks- my first time at that one. & then on my last evening there my friend melonie and i went to the one on melrose ave and this was all i found... a little disappointing. but i went at the end of the day, so i guess alot'a the stuff got picked through.
anyhow... if you're ever in the LA area and plan to go to melrose you'll find lots'a vintage/2nd hand/ quite reasonably priced stores along the strip. i wish i had more time there. oh wells, next time!

My hair is now a strange blend of silver/white, blonde

and orangish at the roots which is quite tragic... but it's slowly fading out.

i don't know what i'd do without purple shampoo (as a blonde).

the last time i used it was right after i had bleached my roots and i left it in for nearly an hour..

and i ended up with purple in my hair. i was sort of expecting it but not the way it looked in my hair. it's faded out now from washing it.

anyhow i had a few people asking me about it and i honestly can't give any greats tips or 'secrets' to my hair. it's kind of just the way it is from lots of bleaching, purple shampoo and having strongish asian hair... it's real damaged now though. of course.

i have to go brown in a month for the musical i'm in!

so i'm embracing my blonde cause i won't be going back to it for quite some time.

ps i really need to take down that hanging art in the background. hopefully my tenants won't mind....

Looking at these photos reminds me how badly i wanna be THERE right now, and not here.
i had a dream last night that i was back in cali... and i was confused why i was there, but i mostly terribly happy to see everyone again.
i'm planning to perhaps go back in april, when school finishes.
some of our adventures consisted of:
- tea gardens (cute little tea cafe)
- thoi thai food (funny joint)
- a smore-filled bonfire
- walking along the santa monica/venice beach strip
- millions of milkshakes :P
- wasteland vintage clothing (sherman oaks and melrose ave)
- staying up far too late & eating ice cream
- failed attempts of ordering milkshakes at numerous take-out restaurants (BAAAAHAAAAHAHA)... i laugh every time...

in short, i had a fabulous time and hope to go back very soon.

ladies & gents (but mostly ladies)... the HOWTO: braid wrap.

STEPS:

1. Part the front of your hair so that the part lies just past the top of your ear.

2. Section off a chunk of hair into three (pieces?)

3. Begin french braiding. Each time you cross your hair over add a small piece of hair.

4. Once you've finished adding all the hair you've sectioned off, you will begin braiding your hair like a normal braid until you reach the ends of your hair.

5. Wrap the braid around your head and add 2-3 bobby pins about 3/4 of the way from the start of the braid (add one near the end of the braid to keep the hair down, if you prefer).

6. VOILA! donezo. (add a little hairspray if ya like)

The bobby pins don't exactly add a 'fabulous' touch to the look but if you can find bobby pins close to your hair color then that makes a great difference (rather than if i had used black bobby pins... womp womp).

But it's a neat hairstyle that literally takes no long than 4 minutes once you've mastered it.

p.s i'm sure there are many other ways to achieve this hairstyle and by no means am i teaching the 'right' way... just 'my' way.

so.
landed like 5 hours ago and got home a bit ago & i'm putting all my stuff away.... and by putting stuff away i mean throwing everything in the wash cause i'm too lazy to hang it all up. i realize a 3 hr flight means i'm obviously not going to be experiencing jet lag but i'm so exhausted from all the late nights.
i had a great time spent with great friends.
the second i stepped off the plane today this weird sensation came over me and it's difficult to put into words. to say: i felt "new" just sounds stupid.
uhh...
i felt good. and confident and carefree. something i only felt in cali, but it was coming to vancouver with me.
maybe cause i'm not stressed and cause people are different in cali than in van (so i believe) and i had a small change of heart.
and while i was walking out of the airport i was telling myself to just remember this feeling. even when i'm tired and i'm feeling sad, to somehow reminisce this experience so i can feel good again.
the ending of my stay was similar, in a sense, to the last time i was in cali. and i somehow felt that would happen. but i'm not gonna think on it. some things happen and are meant just for fun.
school tmrw= family reunion.... n_n

my lovely, sober night (k half a drank) ended as i being the designated driver.

we madeee it!

we arrived yesterday mid afternoon and did a major cleaning.

same as this morning.

but we finally got to lie and bake in the sun for a few hours today.

the sun sets around 4 here; which is kinda sucky.

but man... the sunsets are amazing.

you need real good lighting for pictures to turn out so since it's so sunny here i've been taking advantage of it.

so we left yesterday & we're road tripping this baby (we like to do our shopping along the way), and lemme tell you... this car is FULL. my poor dad. he's so patient.
and my poor butt. doc said i pulled something in my back which is why my left buttock aches. so i've had to sit on my pillow this whole trip. comfy at least.
we'll end up in palm springs tmrw before dark (if we don't stop to shop again... man).
i'm saving all my moola for LA shoppin' now.
so it's about 5/6 days in palm springs then i go to LA and stay with my loverly friends [janine&elite]. frick im excited.

it was my uncle's surprise bday & the theme was 60's.

i figured i'd dress up as twiggy & i'd always wanted to figure out how her make up was done.

so, i gave it a go and this is what i ended up with.

the eyes took me awhile to do... especially penciling the fake eyelashes underneath.

i even gave myself fake little freckles :P man, i wish i had real ones.

but it's a nice change from the regular eye make up i do when going out.

i think i'll do it more often.

FINALLY.

i went semi-shopping for myself.

i only bought two pieces: a floral [whatever-you-wanna-call-it] & leopard skirt.

i was wandering around gastown and then i got sorta lost & i came across this neat little 2nd hand shop called Community Thrift & Vintage [41w. cordova st]

i didn't realize, till i was cutting off the tag at home, that it says:

"Community Thrift & Vintage is a social enterprise clothing shop providing employment opportunities in Vancouver's Downtown East Side, while donating all profits to charities."

how cool is that?

made me really happy.

and the prices aren't oddly priced like some vintage stores where the prices are all over the place. i was very pleased.

HAH. i can't remember the last time i went shopping.

i had my jazz and ballet exam today.

it reminded me how much hard work a good, long session of dancing can be.

but it went decently okay.

i received a comment from a lady i know over lunch with my parents:

Lady: "so you like your blonde hair?"

Me: "yes. i do".

the plan was that i go back brown over winter break, but i feel that every time i get my hair done the more i want to stay blonde.

so as of now, i'm staying a blondy.

i can finally say that i had a very nice, stress-free weekend.

exams/projects aren't finished till friday but the pressure of getting work done isn't as high 'cause i'm accomplishing things... which means another thing done and out of the way.

i bought a shat load of tea from davidstea.

and i went to the library and took out a couple books.

and then i surprised mum & dad at the airport by picking them up with nik.

all on a saturday.

nik: "why did you roll up your pants? are you trying to look like michael jackson?

natt: "you sound like mom".

this is the final product of my dbl bleached hair (that nina helped me with.. 6 hrs in total).

was it worth it? i guess... however i'm hoping to loose the yellowness. i'm gonna wait a couple weeks or so and do something with it again. bleach or whatever i gotta do to make it less yellow(ish).

the sad part is that my hair is (obviously) looking less healthy. but what else should i expect? i've had it bleached 7 times now.

never tried this exact style of braid with my hair before.

i was feeling spontaneous: just parted hair to one side and started braiding to the other side adding in small pieces (basically french braiding) till there was a full braid, then wrapped under head over to the other side and bobby pinned :)
ps tmrw my beigy/blonde hair will (hopefully) be a bleached blonde.
first time bleaching from the box.
nina's gonna help me since i could never do this on my own.
