everything is so on point in these photos...

CALI: Slab City || Salvation Mountain

i'm here.

"here" as in CALI here.

the weather today was juuust right.

we took on slab city which was quite a site to see.

it's basically an ex-military base that has now been turned into a sort of camping/living ground.

the area seems almost desolate- it was hard to tell if people were even living in those

campers/tents/huts... whatever was set up.

but in a way, it was so neat.

the way in which they live is so artistic. 

i saw a hut made of straw, an outside library, half of a camper, a tree covered with hanging shoes...

and then on the way back we stopped at salvation mountain.

WOW.

one man spent manyyyy dedicated years to painting/creating this grand piece of art.

i'd seen this "mountain" before in photos but to actually get up close was a treat.

i'm hoping tomorrow will be nice.

i'd like to start working on my tan.

Yesterday's shoot with Matt involved COLD (as) feet, yummy hot drinks, far too many birds, friendly strangers, DOGS, a beautiful view and sunset

 and feeling like a ninja due to rock climbing and running up walls... what??..

ya.

if you look closely at some of these photos you'll notice i'm "casually" crouched on a slanted wall/ramp and hanging on by my toesies. 
matt was also doing a climbing and balancing act himself.

but man, we had a lot'a fun.

we JUST caught the sun as it was setting.

 i really hope i never get tired of these "cotton candy" sunsets.

the sky against the water was... ugh.

i live for these moments... lol.

BUT REALLY YOU GUYS!

really.

anyhow...

i've wore out the 'ol... new coat a ton this week.

it's warm (oh hello, it's wool), it goes with everything i throw on and it's got the length!

and then, of course, i have the nerve to do some "light" shopping after yesterday's photos.

i find ANOTHER amazing, black coat.

I KNOW, i know. 

you ask:

"don't you own enough coats?"

ya know what...

"as long as i make real good use of them", i say.

(actually i don't think i've ever said that?...)

Well. 

i hope everyone's having a terrific start to their new year!

anybody have any exciting plans for this year??

i have a couple possible ones up my sleeve ;)

Well if there's one thing to look forward to...

 wool coat & zipper bucket bag- Zara, denim- J Brand, flats- Oak + Fort

After lazing about at home for the past 3 days 

(the 3rd day bedridden due to being under the weather)

i made the trek outta my house to work.

it was refreshing to get changed out of at-home-slob clothing and actually make myself look decent. 

but being around in a mall made me suddenly remember why home is such a wonderful place. 

but hey. 

can't complain.

i'll be in cali in 2 days!!

that's something to smile about :)
